Clay saunas are one of the oldest kind of saunas, not only in the Tyrol. Our version here at Der Engel has been made using 5 tonnes of clay to create a 6cm layer on all four walls and the ceiling. So why clay? It absorbs heat better than other materials and it breathes, filtering the air while maintaining a steady level of humidity.
