Der Engel hotel has a long and proud history. Founded in 1748 as a small guesthouse, it is today one of the leading spa hotels in the Tannheim Valley and the whole of the Austrian Tyrol. And yet, despite all that has changed over the last 250 years, we have remained rooted in the region: the mountains, the valleys, the community. Der Engel has been shaped over the centuries by the families who have been lucky enough to own this little piece of paradise. In return, we have been fortunate enough to welcome back many guests not just year for year but generation for generation – guests who appreciate tradition but are open to new ideas. "What we stand for? Everything that makes the Austrian Tyrol what it is – originality, authenticity, a love of the region. We are the seventh generation of our family in the hotel business. What started as a small idea in 1748 has grown into a big success. We have guests whose families have been staying at Der Engel for generations. Why? Because we have passed on our principles and values to our children, Elke and Gerold, and at the same time given them the freedom to pursue their own vision."

Is it Heaven? Is is Earth? Or maybe somewhere in between? Our rooms are designed to be a place where you can get away from it all. A haven of peace and quiet far from daily life. Somewhere to relax and dream. Each room at Der Engel is decorated using natural materials such as wood from local forests and wool from local sheep. Grab a blanket, snuggle up next to the window and let your mind wander as you gaze out at the mountains above.
